“ Life’s Castles “ Castles build and lived in, the past never really gone, The present, the past and the future all but one. Castles with turrets, walls and towers And dungeons filled with evil powers. The knowledge of taboos – forbidden rooms And transparent gates of certain tombs. Their guards are fears and ugliness, Their passages like an unfathomed maze. Storages full of treasures gathered, Closets full of useless things and cluttered. Halls filled with the emptiness of dreams And haunting ghosts of the past that scream, Trying to hinder, to deter, to stop For one to climb the stairwells of hope. To reach the lookout tower of future things to come And to shackling us to our tombs. To keep us with familiar things surrounded If we let us such be haunted. Whether we dwell in our dungeons or the halls of feasts, In our rooms of dreams or the present that is, We have surrounded ourselves with defending walls, And choose to disregard bravery’s luring calls. In our minds, shutting out the dungeons and tombs, The fears, the unfulfilled dreams and ghosts that loom . In those lower parts of the castles of our livesUsing the weapons of our armories for strife. Deceiving our selves, that all is well Refusing to enter our fears, which our past does tell. And so the bells of freedom will never ring Because the battle is not without but within. I dared to enter those rooms in the lower parts, Touched the taboos, faced the dungeons of fear at last . I
Visited the tombs of the pain of loss I bore, I considered the ugly, I opened the door. I beheld the evil and I found truth, And from my shackles, I am now loosed. Those things have become a helper, a friend, A catalyst of love that only hope can bring And so, evil has become the furtherance of good, That evil I dared to face and consider it a as truth.
